VALPARAISO, Chile (June 27, 2019) - The Colombian frigate ARC Indipendiente (FM-54) gets underway from Valparaiso to begin the at-sea portion of UNTIAS LX with 10 other warships from participating partner nations. UNITAS, Latin for ‘unity,’ is the world’s longest-running multinational maritime exercise. Conceived in 1959 and first executed in 1960, UNITAS is a demonstration of commitment to the region and the strong relationships forged between our partner nations and their militaries.
