New Yorkers, tourists and subway buffs, some in period garb, travel on a vintage MTA Nostalgia Train Christmas season ride on Sunday, December 16, 2012. The straps, ceiling fans and rattan seats are a far cry from the plastic and air conditioning in modern subway cars. The Metropolitan Transit Authority has several of these trains for the various subway lines which they put into use for special occasions. the trains normally reside in the New York City Transit Museum in downtown Brooklyn where they can be visited every day.
