An excellent new variety, Manapal was grown and tested at N. C. Experimental Station at Method, N, C. in soils heavily infected with Fusarium wilt. All varieties in the test died except Manapal, Marion and Homestead. Manapal looked the best of the three varieties. It also has field immunity to gray leaf spot and 4 races of leafmold. Most fruits range from to 7 ounces (the size preferred by shippers), smooth at both ends and slightly larger around than from stem to blossom end, but this feature is strongly influenced by the growing conditions. The fruits are firm ripening, thick-walled and fleshy rather than seedy. 90 days. Pkt.
