Salt glacier, Zagros Mountains, ISS image. The Zagros Mountains of south-eastern Iran include many salt domes and salt glaciers. Salt extruded from the salt dome flowed downhill in a similar way to ice in a glacier. This salt glacier is around 14 kilometres across. Ridges have formed in the salt glacier perpendicular to the direction of flow. Photographed on 24 June 2017, during Expedition 52 to the International Space Station (ISS).
