El Floridita bar/ restaurant in Obispo, Old Havana, Cuba, is one of American author, Ernest Hemingway’s favourite regular drinking holes when he lived on the island of Cuba before the 1959 revolution. There is a life-size sculptured model of Hemingway leaning against the bar with his favourite cocktail, daiquiri consisting of Daiquiri De Frappe, consisting of Havana Club 3 white rum, mixed with lime juice, maraschino, sugar and crushed ice. It is said that by the time of his fourth daiquiri, he came up with an idea for his book “For Whom the Bells Toll.’ El Floridita Bar has been in the hospitality business since it opened in 1817. The Bar specialises in cocktails made with fresh fruit juices and rum and is a popular and congested venue filled with tourists. The bar was recognized by Esquire magazine as one of the 7 most famous bars in the world in 1953.
