The historic 1885 Ponce De Leon Hotel is now an architectural attraction on the 47-acre (19 hectares) campus of Flagler College, a liberal arts school founded in 1968 in the heart of St. Augustine, Florida, USA. Built by American industrialist Henry M. Flagler (1830-1913), the sprawling Spanish Renaissance-style building was one of the first luxurious resorts along Florida's Atlantic Coast. After becoming wealthy as a founder of Standard Oil, Flagler became known for developing early tourism in the Sunshine State by building more grand hotels and the Florida East Coast Railway.
