TWELVE-BENCH UIEN CAR 514 STREET RAILWAY JOURNAL. [Vol. XXL No. 14. with angle-iron. A somewhat novel feature has been intro-duced in the platforms by fastening on the top of the regularplatform flooring wooden strips 2 ins. wide, with i/2-in. spacebetween them. These strips are similar to those used in theinside of the car, but are run cross-ways instead of longi-tudinally. The object is to drain the water from the platforms, and they certainly make a very dry and clean looking platform.
