William Ewart Gladstone (29 December, 1809 – 19 May, 1898 was a British Liberal Party statesman and four times Prime Minister (1868–74, 1880–85, 1886 and 1892–94). He was a champion of the Home Rule Bill which would have established self-government in Ireland. Catherine Glynne Gladstone, née Catherine Glynne (6 January 1812 – 14 June 1900) was the wife of British Prime Minister William Gladstone for 59 years, until his death in 1898.
