Hampton Court Palace. White Greyhound of Richmond (one of the Queen's Beasts); shield emblazoned with 3 lions - symbolic of the Tudors & of Henry VI
Adopted as a heraldic symbol by Edward III, the greyhound symbolises loyalty, honour and speed. Henry VIII attached a special importance to the Greyhound of Richmond as was an heraldic emblem used by both the Lancasters and the Tudors - thus symbolising the Tudors’ dynastic right to the throne of England.
