Pineapplefish, Cleidopus gloriamaris, also known as the knightfish .It has a pair of red bioluminescent organs below each eye on the lower jaw.


The Pineapplefish also know as the knightfish is named for its pineapple like appearance It has robust scales with black margins On either side of the lower jaw is a light organ that produces a greenish glow in juveniles and which changes to red as the fish ages The light is produced by symbiotic bacteria It is found living under ledges and in caves and is endemic to Australia where it is found from southern Queensland to central New South Wales with a separate population in Western Australia
