Col. David Mounkes served as commander of the 123rd Airlift Wing during the period covered by the unit’s 19th Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, which was bestowed by Kentucky’s adjutant general, Brig. Gen. Hal Lamberton, during a ceremony at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Ky., Aug. 7, 2021. The award recognizes the wing’s outstanding achievement across a full spectrum of operations, from homeland disaster response to the war effort overseas.
