Meridional temperature section, Atlantic Ocean. Chart showing a temperature, latitude and depth on a two-axis graph. On the horizontal axis latitude is represented in degrees stretching from Cape Pembroke at the origin (latitude 'S, longitude 'W) to the parallel of 'S. The vertical axis extends down to a depth of 4000 fathoms (7315 metres) at the origin and temperatures are marked out between the two axes in Fahrenheit. The chart was engraved by Malby & Sons, globe makers and printers of maps and Admiralty charts. Published in Report on the scientific results of the voyage of Challenger during the years 1873-1876 (1885).
