Proboscis fully developed ; palpi oblique, tlie 2iid joint fringed with hair in front, the oid moderate ; Irons smooth ; eyes large, rounded, smooth ; antennaj of male typically minutely serrate and fasciculate; head and thorax clothed with hair and scales, the prothorax with sharp ridge-like crest, the metathorax with slight crest ; tibije strongly spined ; abdomen smoothly scaled. Fore wing with reins 3 and 5 from near angle of cell; 6 from upper angle; 9 from 10 anastomosing with 8 to form the areole ; 11 from cell.
