A Romanesque gothic style stone arched doorway at Whalley Abbey, Lancashire, UK. with latticed inner grille door made of wood. Though most of the buildings were demolished, a number of walls and features remain and foundations of other parts have been excavated and left on view. The abbey closed in 1537 during the dissolution of the monasteries in the same year that Abbot John Paslew was executed for high treason for his part in the Pilgrimage of Grace events of the previous year
