P47 WW-2 era plane tail number 490447 crash into Hudson River moved to Pier 6 temporarily.


This P-47 Thunderbolt World War 2 era plane was piloted by William Gordon, 56 of Key West Florida. It crashed into the Hudson River on May 27, 2016 during an attempted emergency landing. The pilot was killed in the crash. The plane was recovered and transported to the downtown Manhattan Heliport at Pier 6. Spectators on a passenger cruise line observe the plane as a man and a heavy lift vehicle are seen next to the plane.
