Proctor. 3 i „ /*# This month, two pairs of maps are given,—two northern and two southern,—partly becausewe wish to complete the setof twelve maps—one for eachmonth—in the present volume;but chiefly because the eveningsare now getting long, and thestars must be looked for , the first northern orsouthern map shows the starsas they are seen on June 21st ateight; but at that hour it is notdark enough then to see thestars. Now, the second northernor southern map shows the starsas they are seen on June 21st atten oclock. In July and Aug-ust, also, it will be well to havemaps of the stars at later hoursthan eight or nine. In the firstpart of June, as you will see,the first pair of maps are still tobe used; from June 5, at ninein the evening, the stars can bewell seen. Taking the first northern map,we find the Guardians nearlyabove the pole. The Dipper haspassed to the left, or west,
