A view looking east from the cliff overlooking Omaha Beach (Dog Green sector) at Vierville-sur-Mer, Normandy. The first American troops to land on this sector of the beach at on D Day (about 120 men) were cut down in minutes by machine gun fire from this area of the bluff (this pill box?) overlooking the Vierville draw. Following waves of troops were deliberately landed further down the beach because of the intense fire from this location. The pillbox itself is hardly visable from the ocean.
