CRINAN BRIDGE OVER THE CRINAN CANAL
The nine-mile long Crinan Canal in Argyll in Scotland constructed between 1794 and 1801 by Sir John Rennie starts from Ardrishaig on Loch Fyne. It Passes by Lochgilphead, Cairnbaan, Dunardry, Bellanoch and reaches Crinan on the sound of Jura. Ships going from the Clyde to the Hebrides through this canal avoid an extra 130 miles voyage around the Kintyre Peninsula. Thus their travel time is very much reduced. This canal has 15 locks and it reaches the height of about 65 feet above the sea level at Dunardry.
