Black-crowned Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax hoactli) is a medium-sized heron of the bird family Ardeidae. Its length is 64-71 cm or 25-28 inches with a wingspan of 114 cm or 45 inches. Its average weight is 862 grams or lb. Adults have a black cap and back with the remainder of the body white or grey, red eyes, short yellow legs and a dark bill.
