The con-struction, management, organization and re-or-ganization of these lines occupied his time until,havingsecured some valuable patent rights in theUnited States, he returned to this country afteran absence of eighteen years. When in Chicagohe was invited by Mr. Holmes to assume chargeof the Los Angeles Cable Ry., which is now oneof the finest systems of cable railway in theworld. Mr. Robinson was the first president of the. Tramway Institute of Great Britain. He is anactive, aggressive and vigilant street railwayman, and in his management of the affairs ofthe Los Angeles Cable Ry. Co. he has shownexecutive ability of no mean order. BANQUETTED. A banquet was given to Col. J. C. Robinson,Vice-President of the Los Angeles Cable Co., onthe night of December 17th. It was tendered atthe instance of a number of prominent citizensof Los Angeles, who took that opportunity ofshowing Col. Robinson their appreciation of the work he had so well carried out.
