The first section of the new South Manchester line opened in June 2011 as far as St. Werburgh's Road in Chorlton and is being extended to Didsbury (due to open in the summer of 2013). The M5000 Flexity Swift trams are manufactured by Bombardier in Vienna in Austria. The electrical equipment is provided by Vossloh Kiepe in Dusseldorf. Capacity: 206 passengers.
