Cochlea cells and stereocilia, light micrograph. The cochlea is the hearing organ in the inner ear. It is the location of sensory hair cells. Stereocilia bundles (green arcs) are hair-like projections that sit on top of the hair cells and cause them to respond to sound. Supporting cells (blue and red) surround the hair cells. This specimen is from a newborn mouse.
