M TULIP, GESNERIANA This is a tall-growing, late-blooming Tulip, andundoubtedly one of the finest in cultivation. Theflowers are as large as coffee cups and carried onstout stems nearly 18 inches from the ground. Thecolor is brilliant crimson-scarlet, with a large, pea-cock-blue blotch in the center, and of very strongfragrance. No Tulip that has come under obser-vation is at once so brilliant and lasting. The bulbs may be replanted for years, if takenup when the leaves begin to wither and stored ina cool, dry place until late September. It is, how-ever, quite necessary to cut the flowers as theyfade to prevent the formation of seeds, which isvery exhausting to most bulbous plants. Theyremain in bloom from three to four weeks, and areadmirable when planted in groups among ever-green and shrubbery where they show up to splen-did advantage aeainst the dark each, 25c. per doz., $ per 100, $15 per 1,000.
