Tie the cuttings in bundles of twenty-fi-^'e or more, with the tops together, and place them, with the bottom end iip, in a pit six or eight inches deep; pack leaves around them and mark one edge of the pit with a lath that will reach to the top of the ground, so that the cuttings may be located later without injury to the buds.
