Three-quarters of a mile from the hotel stands a largefort, in a picturesque situation. Enthusiasticsketchers should avoid sketching forts hereor elsewhere abroad, as they may get intotemporary trouble by it. Hoch Finster-miinz itself affords the best point of view,far superior to any obtained from the for-£ er [old road. Tlie traveller is re-minded of the nearness of the Swiss frontierby seeing at the entrance of the village, Village of Nauders in Frontier Parish. Thevillage of Nauders, on account of its eleva-tion, has a cold climate. It contains threechurches. Above it, on the road to Reschen,is the extensive Castle of this a fine view is obtained of theFinstermiinz and mountains. Near the endof the village the road to Martinsbruck andthe Engadine leaves to the right. The new under the mountains to the right was morethan half destroyed. Immediately above Bur-geis rises the Castle of Fiirstenberg, and on aspur of the momitain behind it is seen the largewhite Bene
