Neurofibroma


Neurofibroma on the shoulder of a 16 year old. A neurofibroma is a slow-growing benign tumour. It originates in the peripheral nerve fibres and is mainly composed of Schwann cells, fatty cells that insulate nerve fibres. Treatment is with surgical removal of the tumour.
