September 17, 2012, was the first anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street protest movement, which began in New York's financial district in 2011. On the morning of the anniversary protesters walked up and down lower Broadway near Wall Street. One man held a sign reading "Wall Street brought the heat, we take the street" as he passed a JP Morgan Chase bank branch at 80 Broadway.
