Thesestations may be provided for between the doublearches at the street intersections: stations for uptravel being upon one side of the arch, and sta-tions for down travel being upon the other, andeach provided with stairs upon which to ascendfrom, or descend to, the sidewalk below. It willbe noiseless in its operation, the speed will befrom 15 to 20 miles between stations, and thecost of construction is calculated to be from$50,000 to $60,000 per mile, double track. The car is a feature of the invention. The. atentees prospectus, for use with light cars inigh speed transit for street service, and for the•ansmission between cities of express packages, lail matter and similar freight. It consists es-jntially of two parallel cables braced and tiedigether, extending from the top of and betweenpen arched piers. From these cables there isaspended by suitable ties and struts a roadirder upon which is secured the track rail fromhich the car suspends. These girders are)rmed of two channel beams, arranged back toack and secured rigidly together by castingsd rivets or bolts, the castings being of suchlape as to allow the beams to lie within recesses)rmed by the side projecting ends of the cast- intersection a pier of structural iron. Heavy con-crete and masonry foundation anchorages arebuilt at each of the four corners of the street in-tersection, and from each of these anchoragessprings upwardly and obliquely, toward thecenter of the street, a straight line column.
