Being ourselves largely engaged in berry growing acd in the midst of thousands of acres devoted to this luscious fruit, we are certainly in exceptionally good cir- cumstances for judging varieties. We endeavor to handle our plants in the very best manner. They are carefully cleaned, the roots straightened and neatly tied in bunches of fifty each, labeled and packed in paper tubes with moss. Order strawberry plants early in spring by all means ; as early as possible if to be shipped as freight; small lots or late in season must be sent by express. Let us book your orders while stock is full, and then have them shipped so as to reach you at least one week before they are wanted. All varieties on this page and next, to varieties marked S, are pistillate [flowers without stamens,] imperfect in blossom, and need at least every fourth row to be planted with some per- fect or staminate sort which find on next page marked (S) to select from. '•If I live to see another spring I will surely set out a patch of Straw- ; huch expressions are often made during the Strawberry season and why not plant a patch, when there is no fruit that so readily re- sponds with a rich reward for so little outlay.
