The week before last, while our hearts were saddened by the news fromAdana that God had seen fit, in his great wisdom, to take away another fromamong us, and one, too, in whom we all trusted, and to whom we looked forcounsel,—I mean Mr. Montgomery,—we suffered the loss of our school by morning, December 8th, about ten oclock, one of the teacherscalled us and told us the roof was on fire. We ran with water to the garret,but it had made considerable progress, and was in a place we could not reach.
