Gibraltar - 2nd August 2015 - One of the strugglers race swimmers reaches the shore and is aided by lifeguards and police to shore. Under worsening sea conditions brave swimmers took on the annual challenge of swimming from Eastern beach to Caleta. As the swimmers approached the Caleta bathers saw the red flag being hoisted as sea conditions worsened. The race was marked by the efforts of police, lifeguards and off-duty officers who assisted organisers in ensuring the safety of some of the swimmers, especially those struggling behind. The images show the winners, and how the last two swimmers were helped to complete the full length even after passing the fifty minute time limit set by organisers.
