Burt, son of Willard and Martha (Wood) Burt, was born inWestmoreland, N. H., November 6, 1820, and died in Detroit, Mich., April,11, 1859. He was a direct descendant on his fathers side from James Burt,who settled in New^Dort, R. I., in 1639 and on his mothers side, from JohnWhite, who settled in Salem, Mass., in 1639.
