Jim Gillies, aged 74, retired electrician from Cumbernauld near Glasgow, Scotland, UK, has carried out a "one man" remembrance vigil, every year for the past 27 years, on the anniversary of the nuclear power plant explosion at the Ukrainian reactor in Chernobyl where 31 people died and 500,000 people were affected. Jim Gillies has visited the disaster area 16 times carrying out humanitarian work and has also been on the "Black Tour" around the radioactive plant. He has written a book, entitled "To Chernobyl with Love", about his experiences and is trying to keep the disaster in the public domain.
