A pair of flintlock pistols with interior frizzen springs, France, circa 1680/1720. Octagonal barrels merging to round after a baluster with smooth bore in 15 mm calibre. Lightly engraved, somewhat earlier flintlocks. The frizzen springs fit into hollows in the lockplates, held in place by the main springs, which lie in front of them. Walnut stocks with brass furniture. The lockplates decorated with vine shaped openwork bear grotesque masks. The butt caps also show grotesques. Dark horn ramrods with brass tips.
