I have come to the conclusion that something, althoughnot everything, can be done by political means to bring morebrightness into the lives of the poor, and after full considera-tion have decided to devote the whole of my energy to thetask of gaining information bearing on the question of unem-ployment and imparting it to those voters who have neither thetime nor the opportunity to investigate for themselves. With this end in view I recently availed myself of anopportunity to join a party of investigator
