CARE OF CHICKS—COOPS FOR THEM. 57 BOX CHICKEN-COOP. An ordinary dry-goods box may be used for a chicken-coop. To the open end a frame or lath is fastened, thusmaking a run or yard for the chickens when the boxis placed upon the ground, as shown in figure 38. Fig. 38 The box furnishes a comfortable place for the hen andchickens during stormy weather, an escape from the hotsun, etc. When not in use the lath frame can be takenfrom the box, its three sides and ends separated, andstored away for use another season.
