Rationing in Britain, 1943 This photograph features a child's ration book (issued July 1943) and a series of food-related certificates and coupons specifically for children. They are: coupons for free cod liver oil and fruit juice (left), vouchers entitling the bearer to obtain seasonal 'priority' items (top right), and a blank Ministry of Food medical certificate (right), which is to be completed by a doctor, midwife or health visitor, to enable the bearer to claim these goods in the first place.
