Colonisation of the Amazonian rainforest in Ecuador; here, the trees have been burnt down in preparation for the construction of a settlement. The site is within the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve but was requisitioned for clearing because of it's proximity to the transport links used by the oil industry. Notice the smoke rising from smouldering timbers in the background (at left).
