Comic-Con International 2009 convention held in San Diego Saturday, July 26, 2009. The annual comic and popular arts convention attracts over 100,000 people and runs Thurs. through Sunday. Originally showcasing comics, science fiction/fantasy and film/television and related popular arts, the convention has expanded over the years to include a larger range of pop culture elements, such as horror, anime, manga, animation, toys, collectible card games, video games, webcomics, and fantasy novels. The convention is the largest of its kind in the world, filling to capacity the San Diego Convention Center with over 126,000 attendees in 2009.
