Osteosarcoma cells. Immunofluorescence light micrograph of human osteosarcoma cells responding to the drug (clotrimazole) that induces energy starvation. The protein stains are for succinylated WGA lectin (green), SIGMAR1 (red), and TIAR (blue). SIGMAR1 functions in lipid transport from the endoplasmic reticulum and is involved in a wide array of cellular functions. TIAR is an RNA binding protein that regulates alternative splicing in the nucleus, and stress granule formation in the cytoplasm. Succinylated WGA binds sugars that are found on the nuclear envelope. Magnification: x1030 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
