Alfred's Tower in Wiltshire


Alfred s Tower is a triangular folly tower It stands 160 feet high of brick with a view over Somerset Wiltshire and Dorset Designed in 1765 it was completed in 1772 to commemorate the spot where Alfred the Great in AD 870 erected his standard against Danish invaders and who eventually defeated the Vikings
