Soon afterhis mother passed away, young Gallimore left Harris countyand moved to Columbus. Prior to that time he had worked onthe farm and attended the public schools of Harris coming to Columbus, he entered Prices Normal Schooland finished the course in 1905. During vacation times, hewould go back to the farm and help with the Summer , he took the preparatory course in New Orleans Uni-versity and, having decided to devote himself to the medicalprofession, entered Meharry College, Nashville, graduating. DONALD WALTER GALLIMORE. GEORGIA EDITION 575 considerable money at Summer work and spent a year,after graduation, at the hospital in Nashville. In 1913 he came to Columbus, and in three years has al-ready built up a good general practice. Dr. Gallimore is wellequipped in body and mind for his work, is popular amonghis people and has the cordial co-operation of the medicalfraternity of Columbus of both races. He keeps up with current events through the papers andmagazines, which, apart from his professional reading, occu-pies most of his spare time. He has not taken any active partin politics but classes himself as a Republican. He is a mem-ber of the A. M. E. Church, in which he is a steward, andbelongs to the Masons and Pythians.
