By this means theheat in the locomotive boiler is notlost as is usually the case and time issaved in the operation of washing, andthe clean boiler is filled with water at atemperature of about 190 degs. F. Athermostat is used in the system by whicha temperature of about 140 degs. F. isautomatically maintained while theboiler is being washed out.
