His father served 23 years in the Air Force and he has a brother currently enrolled in an Air Force ROTC program. He said he chose the Army because he saw Air Force duty as either flying aircraft of maintaining aircraft and he wanted something with a “boots on the ground” emphasis. He took a little time off from school in 2018 when he enlisted in the Army. After completing basic training he rejoined BSU and is serving in the Simultaneous Membership Program with the Army Reserves as he completes his degree and ROTC requirements. When he graduates he will be assigned to B Company, of the 2-116th Combined Arms Battalion of the 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, Idaho Army National Guard. On Saturday, February 19, cadets from Idaho’s Army ROTC programs; Boise State University in Boise, Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, and Idaho State University in Pocatello, assembled en masse at the Idaho National Guard’s Orchard Combat Training Center range 14 for individual weapons qualification and training. The Office of Visual Information for Idaho Army National Guard will follow the Boise State University Bronco Battalion for the Spring 2022 Semester through graduation. Graduates will serve as officers in the Army, the Army National Guard, and the Army Reserves. Several BSU seniors who will graduate this May are destined for duty with the Idaho Army National Guard joining several BSU ROTC Alumni currently serving in the Idaho Army National Guard.
