Children at Phnom Da, a 6th century Khmer temple in Cambodia
Children at Phnom Da, a 6th century temple built on the top of a small hill by King Rutravarman of the Funan kingdom, the Chinese name for an early Khmer kingdom that encompassed much of SE Asia and was ruled from the area surrounding Phnom Da. Little is known about the Funan Empire; although 500 years older, Phnom Da is rarely visited, south of Phnom Penh it is a long way off the tourist trail that takes in the Angkor Kingdom temples.
