A dragline beginning to remove clay from below the frozen barrier. Drainage well E-5, in which a heavy flow of quicksand was encountered, is shown in the upper left corner. Top of frozen barrier is at elev. 855 and the water surface in the pool below is at elev. 823. The frozen barrier is about 20 feet wide, 100 feet long and 45 feet deep.
