Atlantean_Manchester Transport Museum Bus HVM 901F

"The Atlantean was in itself a milestone in British bus design but this one in particular was extra special. It's Park Royal Body swept away old fashioned, stayed designs that had been based on old front engine body designs. From then on, double deck bodies featured a squarer, more crisp approach to styling. Manchester 1001 is an important survivor." The Leyland Atlantean is a model of double-decker bus built by Leyland (with bodies added by a variety of companies) in the United Kingdom from 1958 to 1986. It pioneered the design of rear-engined, front entrance double deck buses in the UK, allowing for the introduction of "one person operated" buses, dispensing with the need for a conductor.
