Marine Corps Lt. Col. Mark D. Schouten, the commanding officer of Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 274, cases his squadron’s colors during a deactivation ceremony on Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, May 21, 2021. MWSS-274 has served since 1986 and was deactivated in accordance with the 38th Commandant’s Planning Guidance and Force Design 2030. Throughout its nearly 35 years of service, MWSS-274 deployed in support of aviation operations in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Eastern Exit, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
