The constellation Argo Navis, from a seventeenth century hand-coloured engraving based on the ninth century Aratus manuscript in Leiden. Aratus was born ab out 315 BC in Soli. It was int he Argo that Jason, aided b y Pallas Athene, set out with fifty companions [the Argonauts] in search of the Golden Fleece.
