During the first two years and a half at JamestownCaptain John Smith was the ablest and wisest man. 2. While at Jamestown, Smith wrote the first Englishbook ever written in America. 3. Smith also explored the country and made maps, whichwere published in England. CAPTAIN JOHN SMITH 27 4. In 1907 the Jamestown Exposition was held and amonument to Smith was erected at Jamestown.
